Let's revisit yesterday!

We knew it would be a long day. It took us 12 hours to go 54 miles, which would usually take us around 2 hours. The locks and bridges we had to navigate give priority to the big boats. So even though there are "scheduled" openings for pleasure boats, if a big boat rolls in we all wait. We learned yesterday that communication with the baby boats (us) is not a priority. We spent lots of time getting our hopes up watching different color lights that started blinking, hoping that was a sign our turn was coming up. Once in the lock we had to tie up to another boat. They were a nice couple from Georgia and we found being tied up to them wasn't bad...they did all the work and we just made sure the fenders stayed in place!

Once we finally made it through the 2 lift bridges and 5 locks we thought the remaining 6 miles to Montreal would be a breeze. Mother Nature had a different idea and sent down a killer squall. The wind started catching things on the bow so Elizabeth was the hero and went to strap it all down. Aunt Trina even threw her a lifejacket, it was that crazy!

We headed into Montreal just as the sun was setting, which was great because navigating the harbor, current and waves in the dark was not the topping on the cake that we wanted. It was a rough ride and Sharp One was ready for a rest. Everyone was exhausted so we cleaned out the fridge and made nachos. Now we spend 3 days exploring Montreal!
