We were all sad that Beth, Hartley, and Trina were scheduled to leave July 14th. We were given a glimmer of hope that Trina could potentially be convinced to change plans and continue along. We were overjoyed when she canceled her flight to remain onboard.
Unfortunately, Beth and Hartley needed to get back. They packed their bags and were ready to head to the airport. "Uh oh, the flight is delayed," said Beth. I pulled up the info on where the plane was coming from and saw that it was now diverting due to storms in DC. A few minutes later, "cancelled." After numerous phone calls and an airline change, they were rescheduled to the following evening. Their adventure would continue another day!

Saturday morning, the whole group cruised south on calm, clear Lake Champlain. Upon arrival, excitement built as we were greeted by a beautiful marina resort in a calm cove with two lake trampolines and a lakefront diving board. We had a memorable day swimming in the lake, the pool, and then the lake again. Unfortunately, Beth and Hartley's rescheduled flight was not cancelled, so they flew out of Burlington that evening.

We awoke to heavy rain and flood watches. Vermont has been experiencing historic flooding over the last couple weeks. The radar indicated a break in the precipitation by mid-morning, so we decided to continue along with a goal of dodging afternoon storms and entering the Champlain Canal before any potential closures. We had another calm cruising morning with low clouds intermittently hiding and revealing beautiful scenery along the way. We passed by numerous revolutionary war sites including Fort Ticonderoga and Crown Point.
We entered the Champlain Canal at White Hall. Skip, Joanne, and Trina were great instructors and taught Jenny and me how to help get through the locks. We had five locks before our destination at Fort Edward. Upon entering the fourth lock, we were dismayed to hear that the fifth lock would be closing before we arrived due to an early closure on Sunday. We would have no electricity or water hookup. The lockmaster was so nice to call ahead and ask if Larry (the lockmaster) would stay a few minutes extra for us to get through. Larry delivered and we made it to Fort Edward where we tied up on the town wall.
Our evening ended with grilled BBQ chicken on the boat and an amazing double rainbow.

Very nice pictures, and a great narrative story!
