May 18th - Arrived in Budapest which is one city but with the Buda part on west side of the Danube and the Pest part on the east. Buda is the "rich" area, Pest is the "pretty" area...according to locals...from Pest. Stayed one night at a Hilton that has the most beautiful views of any Hilton we've every stayed. The hotel was also great. Pictures below are from our room overlooking the Danube.
The next day went to church...a Latin High Mass...two hours...really...the Gloria was song by a choir with huge organ...it took 20 minutes! Then viewed a couple of more sites on the Buda side.
Then boarded our Uniworld cruise ship...the S.S. Maria Theresa. Boat repositioned after dinner that gave great views of the city.
May 20th - toured the Pest side and founded out about the many different occupations in Hungary's history. Also visited Saint Stephen Basilica.
Tonight we head to Bratislava! Looking forward to cruising! We will be fighting a strong current the entire cruise. FYI, we do visit places other than churches!
Looks great. Wish Melinda and I were with you!!
