10 and 11 May - Nice, France

May 10th - Moved from Bellagio on Lake Como to Nice, France. Took a car to Milan then 2 trains to Nice...NEVER EVER AGAIN (especially with luggage)...first train delayed, missed connection, next train...standing room only (we did get a seat).

May 11th - Nice, France. I thought Lake Como was the most beautiful place we've been...no longer ... Nice overlooking the Med is unbelievable. Hopefully the pictures below give some sense of the beauty...granted, the yachts in the bay may have influenced me.

Our hotel is Le Negresco, right on the Med. Thanks Judi and Bob for the recommendation! Somehow then knew we like boats...see pictures below!

Today we went on a tour that started with Villa Rothschild...great gardens...from roses to cactus and everything in between. Also had a room dedicated to Lyra Rose...see the lyre clock and dishes below! Sorry they would not let us bring any home.

Then we had a surprise lunch that was part of the tour at La Chevre D'Or (the Golden Goat). This sits high on a hill in the city of Eze. Amazing views but the lunch was nothing like we've ever had before. We spent 2.5 hours (yes 2.5!) on the four-course lunch with many mini courses between the 4! Lunch was from 1300 to 1530...we cancelled our dinner reservations for tonight! We are VERY glad it was included in the tour price.
