Visited a local village of 59 people. Income comes from rice farming. They have an elementary school other villages also use. High school is 45 minutes away by small skiff. Water comes directly from the river...they let the sediment settle for several hours then boil the water. No doctor...the grandfather delivered many babies. Kids were great...most want to be a teacher, doctor, or tour guide.
Final jungle skiff ride. The rains have started higher in the mountains and the tributary is filling up. Water will eventually be at the eco camp shown above.
Packing to leave and the freshwater dolphins came to say good-bye. Saw more dolphins on the Amazon than we've ever seen on the Chesapeake!
Great trip and highly recommend it. A little tough getting you Iquitos, Peru but everything on the Aqua Nera was great...room, food, drinks, service, excursions...even Starlink...all included thru Uniworld. Like our other two river cruises in Europe, highly recommend Uniworld. If you are considering an Amazon cruise, let me know and I'll provide some suggestions.
Will let everyone know when we are off for our next adventure. Thanks for following us!
